Joseph DeLappe's "dead in Iraq" project, ongoing
Joseph DeLappe’s dead-in-iraq project is an ongoing online intervention commenced in March 2006, to roughly coincide with the third anniversary of the start of the Iraq war. DeLappe enters the online US Army recruiting game “America’s Army” in order to manually type the name, age, service branch and date of death of each American service person who has died to date in the Iraq conflict. The work is essentially a fleeting, online memorial to those American military personnel who have been killed in this ongoing conflict. The exhibition includes a video documenting scenes from live online interventions.
